We Repair or Fully Recondition Single and Multi-Cylinder Magnetos
Over the years we have restored popular magnetos, such as Lucas, Simms, Bosch, Wico, CAV, BTH that are fitted on veteran and vintage cars and motorcycles.
We have developed a range of specialist equipment for restoring magnetos; from modern magnetizing techniques to vacuum impregnation. We also have the latest CNC coil winding machines to ensure accuracy and repeatability in our magneto armatures. Class H insulations and resins are used in our coil manufacturing process to produce coils that are much more reliable than was possible at the time the original magnetos were manufactured.
Magneto Repair from £75.00 (plus VAT)
During a repair we will dismantle your magneto and test all the component parts. We will change the capacitor as standard; we do this on all car magneto repairs as these tend to be a point of failure, especially if it still has an original capacitor. We will provide a report detailing the faults and our recommendations. If you decide to go ahead with the repair we charge £75 plus any parts.

Magneto Full Restoration £300 (plus VAT)
A full restoration ensures all major components on your car magneto are made goods as new, if not better. This includes:
- Replace capacitor
- New coil
- New brushes
- New bearings
- Re-magnetize the magnet
- 3 Year Guarantee
Our latest CNC winding machines ensure a stable uniform coil, properly insulated and vacuum impregnated. Modern insulation methods and resins make the coil far more reliable then the original coil and protects the winding from damage caused by vibration or insulation breakdown. We replace all the brushes and bearings and re-magnetize the magnet to ensure a high field strength. The body of the magneto will be shot blasted, painted and lacquered, making it look as good as new and work even better.
The price is £300 (plus VAT) with a three year guarantee for all single cylinder magnetos and most multi-cylinder magnetos. There may be extra costs involved on unusual or very rare magnetos as bespoke parts may need to be manufactured. If there are extra costs involved they will be itemised on an estimate ensuring you are fully appraised before giving us permission to proceed with the restoration of your magneto.
We offer a rewind service on any magneto armature, prices are typically £90 plus VAT, and we can also replace damaged shafts.
